This photograph shows a portion of Iguazu Falls, located in South America on the border between Brazil and Argentina. Both countries have established national parks to protect this beautiful rainforest area. The falls have been declared to be one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, as well as a World Natural Heritage Site. The name Iguazu comes from the Guarani language and means "Great Waters." There are 275 individually named falls that make up the larger system that is known as Iguazu Falls. The falls are spread out in a horseshoe shape, over a two mile section of the Iguazu River. Rainbows can often be seen in the mist produced by the force of the falling water.
I am a world traveler with a passion for nature photography. Whether I am taking pictures near my home on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington, or in far away places like Antarctica, I am inspired and awed by the beauty found in nature.
