This Gentoo penguin seems to be celebrating something. Maybe he's just happy that it is a beautiful sunny day on Saunders Island, where he lives. Saunders is one of the Falkland Islands, located near Antarctica in the South Atlantic. Gentoos are about two feet tall and weigh about 13 pounds. The females usually lay two eggs. Males and females both have brood patches on their bellies and a pair will share incubating duties. Gentoos have been categorized as a Near Threatened species.
I am a world traveler with a passion for nature photography.
