Description
This photograph shows the beautiful world of a Chinstrap penguin on Half Moon Island, one of the South Shetlands, near Antarctica. Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica) take their name from the line of black feathers that run across their white chins like the strap of a hat. They are about two feet tall and weigh about eight pounds. Each day, in order to feed, they have to make the long trek between their colonies near the top of the island and the ocean.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I love the simplicity of this...the tremendous expanse of white snow and ice...with the black rocks jutting up to lead the eye to the wonderful surprise of the little penguin...this is just magical!...f/v
