Description
This photograph shows Castle Mountain in Banff National Park. It is part of the Canadian Rockies found in Alberta, Canada. The mountain was named in 1858 by James Hector, a member of the Palliser Expedition. He thought the mountain looked like a gigantic castle. The castle-like appearance is the result of differing rates of erosion for the hard and soft rocks found in the mountain.
